L1 → L2 → L3 → L4

Choose the level that fits your role.

Build from understanding to application, implementation and teaching. Your existing experience matters; every learner does not need to start at the same level.

L1 · AWA

Awareness

Understand the essentials.

Learn the vocabulary, recognise workplace examples and check your understanding.

Start here if the subject is new to you.

Discuss L1 learning ↗
Assessment & certificate

15–20 questions on essential concepts and simple workplace examples; approximately 20 minutes.

Pass: 70% or higher. Two attempts.

GTWP certificate: Recognition Certificate

L2 · PRA

Practitioner

Practise with evidence.

Apply tools to worked cases. Where relevant, develop internal-auditor skills.

For people applying the subject in their role.

Discuss L2 learning ↗
Assessment & certificate

Knowledge quiz: 40%. Practical manufacturing case: 60%. Complete a relevant tool, calculation or worksheet and explain the result.

Pass: 75% overall, with at least 70% in each component.

GTWP certificate: Practitioner Certificate

L3 · IMP

Implementor

Make it work on the floor.

Plan a scoped workplace application, assign ownership and verify results.

For process owners and implementation teams.

Discuss L3 learning ↗
Assessment & certificate

Knowledge assessment: 20%. Implementation project: 50%. Audit case: 30%, where auditing applies. Include a short discussion to verify the learner’s own work. The project covers the problem, baseline evidence, selected method, implementation, results and sustainment. The audit case covers planning, evidence gathering, findings and corrective-action follow-up. For a non-auditing subject, the assessment specification must define an equivalent application task before enrolment.

Pass: 80% overall, with at least 75% in each component. Both implementation and applicable audit evidence must pass.

GTWP certificate: Implementor and Auditor Certificate, for subjects where auditing is relevant; otherwise a topic-specific Implementor Certificate

L4 · TAT

Train the Trainer

Build capability in others.

Create a teaching plan, facilitate practice and give useful feedback.

For experienced practitioners developing others.

Discuss L4 learning ↗
Assessment & certificate

Knowledge assessment: 20%. Training session plan and material adaptation: 30%. Recorded teach-back: 50%. Deliver a 15–20-minute teach-back followed by questions. Assessment considers technical accuracy, clarity, examples, learner engagement and checking understanding. The two included 30-minute one-to-one sessions cover plan review/coaching and teach-back assessment/feedback.

Pass: 80% overall, with at least 75% in each component and no unresolved major technical errors.

Certificate and assessment policy

Certificates are issued by Gemba The Workplace (GTWP), not an external accreditation body. Certificates are topic-specific and issued only after the required assessment passes, with a unique ID and issue date. Practical work receives written feedback and one revision opportunity. A supplied case or simulated project may be used where workplace access is unavailable; it must be identified as simulated evidence. Access to a materials bundle does not certify competence in every subject.
